The school has been utterly transformed overnight into a magical Winter Wonderland with magnificent displays thanks to the hard work and sheer creativity of all staff! Have a look at the photos in the children’s gallery.
The school would like to express their gratitude to all the community for making the Christmas Fair a brilliant event. Congratulations to the WPA and their team for raising just under £4,500, including £118.30 from the children's Business Enterprise Stalls.

On Thursday Westbourne debaters headed to Barrow Hedges Primary School for their first competition of the year! Each team of three children were given 15 minutes of planning time to get their head around some tricky debate motions. Following this each child had to try and speak for 3 minutes about their topic. They also had to listen to their opposition speakers and try to offer relevant ‘Points of Information’. At the end of the debate the judges also awarded points for quality of argument and offering rebuttal (relevant points in response to the other speaker’s ‘Point of Information’). All of the children performed brilliantly in the competition and this is the result of their hard work at debating club this term. Westbourne debaters can now look forward to the return debate after Christmas and a trip to City Hall in London to see where some of the capital’s important debates happen!
Westbourne Primary School has joined forces with other local schools to donate a range of educational supplies to schools in Ghana.
It was overwhelming to see how grateful all the schools were for the various items; they really are in such need - the joy on the children’s faces was very humbling. The teachers were also overjoyed with the help as it makes their job a little easier!
Have a look at a selection of photographs of Dawn Abram's (Project Lead) visits to the schools and the formal exchange of goods – Ghanaian custom!
A truly worthwhile project that will continue in the future.
Dear Parents,
This year, Westbourne would like to continue to support Sutton’s international work by contributing a Harvest collection, with the help of Sutton Rotary Club, to orphanages and needy causes in Romania. The Romanian Aid Foundation Harvest Appeal supports families in real need, especially those who have no land and no work.
We would be extremely grateful if your child could bring a food item into school on Thursday 13th October. If possible, tinned or dry food with at least 4-6 months left on their use by date. The items will be collected around mid-morning.
The following items would be very much appreciated:
Pasta shapes, spaghetti, rice, flour;
Tinned fruit and vegetables (except potatoes);
Tinned meat and fish such as ham, tuna or sardines;
Meat and fish pastes, sandwich spreads, jam;
Biscuits (sweet and savoury), simple cakes;
Cooking sauces, mayonnaise, ketchup and any other condiments;
Sugar, coffee (not tea), milk powder, cooking oil;
Instant potato, tinned or packet soups;
Soap, disinfectant, washing powder, tooth paste;
Simple medical items such as plasters and antiseptic.
These would be ideal, however we will gratefully accept any other food and will distribute it to other local causes including local day centres for the elderly.
For more information on the cause, you can visit their website www.roaf.org
Thank you very much for your support,
Miss Mehta
Last week the Year 3 classes enjoyed a visit from 'nimtim architects' who hosted their first ever Workshop for the RIBA ambassador programme.
The children took part planning and designing their 'future-homes' and were full of great ideas!
Last week, our Year 2 children took part in the annual Sutton Schools' Infant Music mornings. They performed brilliantly and we would now like to give parents and guardians the opportunity to hear them singing their songs.
The Year 2 classes will be performing on Tuesday 21st June at 2.40pm. Refreshments will be provided by the WPA from 2.30pm
We hope to see you all there!
