Thames Class Reception

Welcome to Thames Class!

Reception class update: August 2020

We are looking forward to welcoming you into your Reception classes in September. There’s not long to go now and we are getting very excited about meeting you all!

Due to current government guidelines, we have had to make some changes to the way we will be welcoming you and your child into school.

Stay and Play Sessions

These will still take place although unfortunately, we will not be able to invite parents into the school building.

Your date and time for the visit remains the same but please note that these visits will only last for half an hour. Please stay close to the school during your child’s visit in case they become upset or unsettled and use the time to take any relevant paperwork to the school office.

As we will not have the opportunity to talk with parents on these days, the class teachers are looking forward to having a chat with you via phone calls during the first week in September when they will discuss any relevant information they should know about your child. It will also give you the opportunity to tell the staff anything about your child that will help them settle. Please note that the phone call will come from a private number.

We hope you are all enjoying the summer break and we look forward to welcoming you to Westbourne in September.

Hello everyone!

We are so excited that you will be joining Westbourne and are looking forward to meeting you very soon. We would normally invite our new Reception parents to a welcome meeting in July but unfortunately, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we are unable to do that this year. Instead, please take a look at the information on this page which we would normally have shared with you at the meeting.

By now, you should have received a letter giving times and dates for our ‘Stay and Play’ sessions along with your child’s date to start school.

Please note that these dates might have to change depending on the government advice we are given regarding the opening of schools in September. We will contact you if these dates have to change.

‘Stay and Play’ sessions give you and your child the opportunity to meet the staff, other children and parents. It also allows you and your child to spend time playing together in the new learning environment. This year, we won’t be making home visits, so these sessions will also be used for us to find out more information about your child, their needs and interests.

We would be very grateful if you could fill in the ‘All about Me’ booklet below and bring it with you to your child’s ‘stay and play’ session, thank you
