Welcome to our last term in Year 4!
Our topic this term is ‘Rampaging Romans’ in which we will be learning about their impact on Britain and evidence of their settlement across the country. As part of this topic, the children will learn about Roman Numerals, Shakespeare’s ‘Julius Caesar’ and life in the Roman Army as well as much, much more!
You will continue to become master musicians and we will be treating your parents to a Brass Concert later on in the term. Timings will be confirmed closer to the date of the concert. Some of you will also be taking part in a concert at St Andrew’s Church on July 3rd and we will be letting you know which children will be involved in this as soon as we can.
Homework- Spellings, Tables and Reading
Reading will continue as per last term, with 6 reads per week (3 from an adult, 3 from your child). A quick reminder that you are expected to complete detailed comments about the content of your reading as well as your thoughts and feelings on the material. We are looking forward to you really showing us that you have a good understanding of what you are reading.
We will continue to update Education City for you to access the activities during the week.
Spellings are an important part of your learning. Please ensure that you spend time learning these and complete your Spelling Journal. Spellings will be handed out on a Friday and tested the following Friday.
We will also continue with our Learn Its and Written Arithmetic tests every Friday. You are expected to know all the times tables and your division facts by the end of this term – you can do it!

We are really looking forward to a successful final term!
