April 2017 - Summer Term!

Welcome back everyone!

We hope that you have had a wonderful Easter break. It is lovely to see that you have come back with your brains fully charged as the SATs are only around the corner! A big thank you to the parents for supporting  the children whilst they have been revising at home. Just a quick reminder that Education City homework is set on a weekly basis for the children to use as a revision aid and this provides them with a great opportunity to discuss their homework with you in an interactive form.

AM - Session 2

It is essential that the children arrive in school on time every day that week. They are allowed to bring in a healthy snack to have between tests and a water bottle is advisable. PE kits will also be needed every day as well as their well-used Revision Folders!

After SATs, both classes will be embarking upon their much anticipated trip to the Isle of Wight! The children (and us) can’t wait! We will be leaving at 9:30am on the Sunday and will arrive back on the Friday at approximately 2:15pm. For more information please attend the parent’s meeting on the date specified below.

January 2017

Happy New Year - Welcome Back!

Welcome back scurvy seadogs!

I hope you have got your sea legs ready as we prepare to tour the world in our new ‘ISLAND ADVENTURES’ topic!

Thanks for your generous Christmas gifts; we hope had a lovely break and Father Christmas was kind to you. The spring term is an exciting one, with lots of exciting things planned!

In Maths, we will be continuing to increase our speed with Big Facts, equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages, and fractions of amounts. We will also be carrying on with our Learn Its and Beat That, which brings about some healthy competition in Tay Class!

In Literacy we will be reading Kensuke’s Kingdom as our class book. We will be using ideas from the text to inspire us in our writing. It would be great if you could talk about this book with your child at home too.

As the SATs are fast approaching, (week beginning 8th May), we will continue to work as hard as we can with our English, Maths and Science. It would be really helpful if you could focus on 'reading in between the lines' as well as thinking about the author's intent, when reading with your child. This will help to develop their higher level reading skills.

Here's a quick reminder of things for the children to be thinking about:

• Be smart!

• Be smiley!

• Work hard!

• Be punctual! (8.45 please)

• Always complete your Homework on time and remember your Reading diary, Homework diary AND Spelling journal every MONDAY

• Be responsible!

• Always set a good example to the younger children!

• Be kind!

• Know your Big Facts accurately and at speed!

Thank you for all of your support and especially the support that has been given through Homework tasks. We're looking forward to another fantastic term!
