Our School Direct students have successfully completed their first teaching practice at local schools and are now completing their training with us, at Westbourne.
We have been allocated places for next year and would love to hear from you if you would are interested in training to be a teacher. You will need to have a degree grade 2:2 or above and have GCSEs in Maths, English and Science. Applications can be made through the UCAS site.
Over many years, we have developed very strong links with Kingston University, our provider. We work closely in partnership to provide excellent teacher training. Students study at Kingston University, Kingston Hill site as well as here, at Westbourne. A PGCE degree is awarded at the end of the course, with QTS. Our students are assigned a class in September, at Westbourne, so that strong working relationships are developed with children and staff. The first Teaching Experience is at another local school, in another key stage. The final teaching practice takes place at Westbourne. Our students have the same mentor throughout, from Westbourne, as well as having support from Kingston University Liaison tutors.
