Kennet Class Year 4

Welcome to Kennet Class!

Welcome to Year 4!

We hope you are looking forward to an exciting year ahead in Kennet Class!

Our topic this term is:

Extreme Explorers!

We will continue to work hard on developing Literacy and Maths skills. Please try to make sure your child reads on a regular basis at home, sharing the experience if you can. Reading Records will be sent home weekly for you to make three comments about their reading at home. We also expect the children to make three comments of their own every week and the books will be collected in every Friday. Please ensure that their reading record is in school every day. It is also of great importance that the children practise their weekly spellings and times tables at home too. These will also be tested on a Friday. Education City activities will be given for the children to complete in accordance with what is being taught in class.

Below are some important points to remember to ensure a happy and productive first term in Year 4!

Top tips for Year 4:

  • Always be smart and punctual
  • Label your PE kit and school uniform
  • Bring your reading record to school every day
  • Listen carefully and be kind to others
  • Learn your spellings and times tables
  • Always try your best!

Children need a named PE kit (white t-shirt and blue school shorts). Children will also need trainers and a warm jumper for outdoor games. All items of clothing should be clearly marked with your child’s name along with their indoor plimsolls. We would like to remind the children that jewellery (other than stud earrings) and nail varnish are not permitted.

PE Kits are needed on the following days:

Kennet: Thursday and Friday

Tyne: Thursday and Friday

Wandle: Tuesday (Brian Basketball) and Thursday

Children will also need headphones to be able to access the RM Easimaths programme and Spellodrome in school.

A Club timetable and accompanying letter will be sent home shortly. If your child is going to attend a club, then please remember to return the permission slip to the appropriate teacher. We look forward to seeing as many children as possible taking part in these extra-curricular activities.
