Eden Class Year 2

Welcome to Eden Class!

Happy New Year!

Thank you for all the lovely cards and gifts we received at Christmas time, they were very much appreciated.

This term our topic is The Great Fire of London. We will be learning about the timeline of events, the causes and consequences of the fire and thinking about how it would have felt to be stuck in London during 1666. We will also be creating stunning pieces of art based on the event and taking a trip to St. Paul’s Cathedral to learn more about the damage the Great Fire caused.

In Literacy we will be writing diary entries, newspaper reports, poems, report texts and adding joining words and correct punctuation to our writing. We will also continue to develop our comprehension skills by reading and studying a variety of different texts.

In Numeracy we will continue to work on applying the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to real-life problems, along with some work on statistics, fractions and geometry.

We will also be thinking about materials and mini-worlds in Science, weather patterns in Geography, designing comics and staying safe on the internet in Computing and developing our hockey and dance skills in PE.

Please continue to read at least six times a week at home with signed comments in reading records. Education City tasks are updated on a weekly basis and children also have access to Spellodrome and Easimaths activities to continue their learning at home.

Our PE days are Monday and Thursday so please make sure children have a labelled PE kit in school and a pair of plimsolls that fit.

If you need to make an appointment with the class teacher please make an appointment with the office.

Thank you for your continued support.
